Class Information
The three-term academic year of the Dhamma School commences in mid-September and runs until mid-July. Nearer the time of commencement, we will update you with current information about this class further.
Students will continue to learn about the life of the Buddha and his teachings.
Students will learn the life of the Buddha in brief, covering the period from Prince Siddhārtha’s birth up to the ordination of the Chief Disciples. A few select episodes that form the content of the lessons include (i) birth of Prince Siddhārtha, (ii) ploughing ceremony, (iii) life in the palace, (iv) four omens, (v) renunciation, (vi) austere practices, (vii) enlightenment and subsequent seven weeks, (viii) conversion of Yasa, (ix) sending out monks for the dissemination of dhamma (dhammadūta), and (x) conversion of Kōlita and Upatissa.
