Class Information

The three-term academic year of the Dhamma School commences in mid-September and runs until mid-July. Nearer the time of commencement, we will update you with current information about this class further.

Students will continue to learn:

Dhamma

The syllabuses of Senior Levels and the following:

  • A summary of The Mahā Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta and Cullakamma Vibhaṅga Sutta
  • General knowledge of vipassanā bhāvanā (insight meditation)
  • Seven stages of purity (satta visuddhi)
  • The uniqueness of the Buddha and his teachings
  • Difference between Theravāda and Mahāyāna Buddhism
  • Students should memorise verses 75, 89, 123, 135, 146, 191, 202, 216, 239–240, 276–277, 338, 365–366 of the Dhammapada and understand each verse’s meaning.

Abhidhamma

Syllabuses of Senior Levels:

  • And Abhidhamma categories
  • The law of dependent origination (paṭiccasamuppāda)
  • The law of causal relations (paṭṭhāna): The twenty-four conditions
  • Uddesa and Trirasiya
