On the month of Äsala, the annual procession at the Tooth Relic Temple, Kandy, takes place. Religiously the Äsala full moon is important because the historical Buddha had delivered “The Turning the Wheel of Teaching”, his inaugural instructions in the Deer Park in Sarnath, India. It was a simple introduction to the Buddhist philosophical analysis of the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path.
